Trek's Speed Concept 2.5 is your secret weapon in the battle against time. The aerodynamic frameset and components are works of genius that result in free speed and personal records. Trek uses Kammtail shapes in the frame that make it faster even in cross winds. And, this wind-cheater is super adjustable so that you can find your most efficient position. It's also equipped with SRAM's fine Apex components for super-smooth shifting and top-notch reliability, plus slippery Bontrager wheels and a fast front end ready to beat the clock.

Three years in the making, Trek's Speed Concept takes revolutionary design paired with a groundbreaking aero shape to make the cleanest integration of brakes, cables, and electronics ever seen on a bicycle. It's the fastest way to the finish. (Click images to enlarge.)

Cross winds greatly affect the aerodynamics of a bike. Most TT bikes have low drag when the wind is straight on, but in the real world, it's almost always a cross wind. The Speed Concept's Kammtail shape maintains its full aero benefits at any yaw angle. The result? Your bike is faster in any situation. Cables contribute a massive amount of drag, and routing them internally through the frame eliminates that drag and maximizes speed. The minimal frontal surface area of the Speed Concept, combined with its svelte shape, makes the bike slice through the wind effortlessly, so more of the power you apply to the pedals translates directly into speed.

Even the quick-release skewers on the Speed Concept increase its speed. Trek integrates them into the shape of the bike for faster aerodynamics. Computer sensors create unwanted dirty air—but not if you build them seamlessly right into the frame. Speed Concept is the first TT bike to integrate electronics into its aerodynamic shape. Out of sight, out of the wind.

Comments:

It is too much value for such low price. It rides like a dream, very stable. Sure its not like my $15k Madone but its one good bike for consistent speed on the flats, perfect for Fiesta Island!Don't plan any upgrades just going to use this bike up.... Well make, cannot believe you get this much for the money. Paint and color is awesome too... It was a no-brainer for me!

I use this as my everyday bike, it's just the way I ride. Since Schwinn voided my "Lifetime" warranty when they sold out to Pacific cycles and now make junk bikes, I went looking for a new Brand to be a loyal customer of. I found it. This thing is unreal, superlight, fast, and appears durable(I haven't had it long), it steers by thought. My dealer fit it to me and even contacted Trek several times to make sure it was right and even did 2 sets of measurements. Staff was unreal. The only con is some cable rattle inside the downtube however I've never owned a bike like this so it's new to me and not constant as it only happens on rough roads. Awesome bike glad i got a TREK....

    Comments:

I'm a competitive triathlete usually finishing on the podium in my age group and top 10% overall. I also have a Trek Equinox 9.5 with a FSA carbon crank. I bought this bike to keep at my vacation house. After a few rides on the SC 2.5 I couldn't believe it!!! I actually think it's faster than the Equinox which cost 3 times as much. Trek has obviously nailed the aerodynamics on this machine. Any cross wind (with slight tail) really gives you a boost. Much more so than on any other aero frame I've ridden. The ride isn't too harsh for aluminum. The bike may feel heavy compared to other brands, but the aerodynamic advantage makes up for it. You may be slower to accellerate or climb, but once up to speed you'll fly. On the downside, I'm not in love with the SRAM shifters. Also, the web between my thumb and index finger gets pinched in the bontrager brake levers at times. Overall I'd highly recommend this bike.
